Courses run from April to October and into November (weather permitting).

My greenhouse studio in Bourton on the Water

A bit about your tutor - Jackie Isard
I became interested in mosaic design a couple of years ago when I attended a course in Oxford. With exceptional tuition by Peter Massey, I gained the experience to carry on on my own. I now make mosaics in my little garden studio. I have explored different materials this last year which give the mosaics a more interesting and colourful appeal, such as stained glass, pebbles and washed up glass from a Cornwall beach.

Commissions welcomed.

Once you know the techniques and methods it's not too difficult to learn!

Mosaic in the making

Details about courses
The course can be tailored to your individual needs. You will be introduced to cutting techniques and tesserae (mosaic pieces) as well as being shown how to grout your finish piece. You will make a piece about 1 foot square over a 2 day course or a smaller item on a 1 day course, see below for more details.

Children over 12 years are welcome although I can only take 2 students maximum at a time (There may soon be an option for an alternative venue in Bourton for more students, up to 5 max). On the half day childrens course they will make a coaster, on the full day course they can be a little more ambitious.

Week days and weekends including bank holidays:
10am - 4pm 2 students max. (There will soon be an option for an alternative venue in Bourton for more students to attend, up to 5 max). Please call or email to book.

Introduction to creative mosaic making
1 day course : £60 (adults only)

Introduction to creative mosaic making
2 day course : £120 (adults only)

Creative mosaic making for children
(12 yrs and above accompanied by an adult)

1 day course: £50 per day - 12 yrs+ (10am - 4.30pm)

Half day course : £25 - 12 yrs+ (10am - 12.30pm or 1.30pm - 4pm)

We can accommodate younger children on shorter drop-in sessions (2 hours) at £17.50 (10am - 12 noon or 2pm - 4pm).

There is an additional cost for materials at £10 per square foot on the adult and £3 for 12yr+ courses.

It is useful to bring along an idea of what you would like to do based on a board about 200-300mm square in size (smaller for 1 day courses). I have cut pieces of mdf and ply to choose from. Larger sizes are more suited to a 2-3 day course. You may find a picture or a pattern you like, just bring it along. But don't worry as I have an 'Inspiration' folder if you are unsure. Don't be too ambitious as mosaic making can take a long time. If you don't finish I will try to give you enough materials to take home to finish it off.

Mosaic materials and tools are available for sale.

There is a local B&B which can accomodate you if required, the Halfway House in the nearby village of Kineton. They will do you a good price if you mention The Cotswold Art Studio. Please note this is a very busy tourist area, so book well in advance.

Take a look at the local information on my website as you may decide to make a holiday of it!

Please bring a packed lunch. Lunch is not provided on the one-to-one courses. Coffee, tea and drinks will be provided. Wear suitable clothing.

I look forward to meeting you!
